Cape May County Division of Veterans' Services

The Cape May County Division of Veterans' Services, established shortly after World War II by the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners, is dedicated to providing essential support and assistance to veterans, widows, and their families. This division plays a crucial role in ensuring that countywide veterans have convenient access to a wide range of benefits and services, eliminating the need for extensive travel to obtain the assistance they deserve.

Key Services: The Division offers valuable assistance in applying for various benefits, including Disability Compensation, VA Veterans’ Pension, VA Healthcare Services, Aide and Attendance, Requests for Discharge Paperwork, Surviving Spouse and Dependent Benefits, VA Life Insurance Claims, Burial Benefits, NJ Income Tax Deduction, NJ Property Tax Reduction or Exemptions, NJ Disabled Veteran License Plates, NJ Disabled Veteran Placard, and Replacement Medals and Records.

Additional Responsibilities: Beyond benefits application support, the Division takes on several other important responsibilities:

• Administering the CMC Veterans’ Cemetery, including pre-registrations.

• Disbursing information on veterans' and family services from both the State of NJ and the Federal Government.

• Providing information about local establishments offering Military and Veteran Discounts.

• Facilitating significant county ceremonies such as Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day, fostering a sense of community and remembrance.

• Collaborating with the CMC Board of Chosen Freeholders and the CMC Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol for the Wreaths Across America Ceremony.

• Engaging in community outreach programs and presentations upon request.

• Offering referral services to various governmental organizations serving veterans and their families.

• Providing information about non-governmental agencies that offer assistance to veterans and their families.
