How we do it?
The Veterans Housing Foundation exemplifies the essence of a modern legacy brand, actively shaping the future while paying homage to the sacrifices made by veterans.
Through a strategic approach that begins with understanding veterans' needs, extends to comprehensive support services, and includes active community involvement, the program is making a profound difference in the lives of those who have served. By focusing on sustainability and continuous improvement, it ensures that this modern legacy will endure, leaving a lasting impact for generations to come.
What we provide?
The United States takes pride in its veterans and their service to the nation, yet there are instances where these individuals, including veterans, find themselves facing homelessness. It's a concerning issue, with over 630,000 homeless individuals in America, and notably, 67,495 of them are veterans. This statistic, where over 10% of the homeless population consists of veterans, is both surprising and troubling.
Several factors contribute to this disproportion, making veterans twice as likely to experience chronic homelessness compared to other American demographics. These contributing factors include extended periods of joblessness, home foreclosures, mental health challenges, and economic hardship.
To shed light on the gravity of these issues, consider these statistics:
-
More than 968,000 veterans experienced poverty in the past year.
-
In 2010, 20,000 veterans with governmentsponsored mortgages lost their homes.
-
A significant 76% of homeless veterans grapple with alcohol, drug, or mental health issues.
-
Among veterans aged 18-24, a concerning 30.2% are unemployed.
While it may be tempting to draw hasty conclusions, it's essential to refrain from doing so. Instead, let's explore some surprising facts about homeless veterans:
-
A remarkable 89% of them received an honorable discharge for their service.
-
67% of homeless veterans dedicated three years or more to military service.
-
Surprisingly, 47% of homeless veterans are Vietnam War veterans.
-
Another 15% served before the Vietnam era.
-
Only 5.5% are veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, which is lower than expected.
Why we address these issues?
By addressing these fundamental areas—housing, education, and unemployment—we aim to provide a comprehensive support system that helps veterans reintegrate into civilian life successfully.
This holistic approach not only honors their service but also recognizes the value they bring to our communities when given the tools and opportunities to thrive.

What we Provide?
Vocational Training for Adult Learning: Empowering Veterans for Success
Our vocational training programs focus on plumbing, electrical work, heating and air conditioning, and carpentry for adult learners, particularly veterans. Here's why we prioritize these fields:
-
High Demand and Employment Opportunities:
-
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in these trades are projected to grow at rates equal to or faster than the average for all occupations through 2030.
-
Offering training in these high-demand fields directly translates into immediate job opportunities for veterans, contributing to their financial stability.
2.Transferable and Versatile Skills:
The U.S. Department of Labor reports that skilled trades professionals enjoy a significantly lower unemployment
rate compared to the national average.
These skills are versatile and transferable, enabling veterans to secure employment in various industries and geographic regions, enhancing their employability and adaptability.
3.Entrepreneurship Opportunities:
Small businesses, often rooted in trades like plumbing and carpentry, play a vital role in the U.S. economy, employing millions of people.
Vocational training not only prepares veterans for employment but also equips them with the skills to start their own businesses, fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
Our commitment to vocational training in these essential trades is driven by the desire to empower veterans with the knowledge and skills needed for prosperous and fulfilling careers, making a positive impact on their lives and communities.
How we are looking to put the veterans back into the workforce after active duty through our programs?
In addition to our educational workshops, we are dedicated to assisting veterans in their transition to the civilian workforce. Our specialized programs offer job training, employment opportunities, and networking resources tailored to veterans' unique skills and experiences. We believe in not just empowering veterans with knowledge but also providing tangible pathways to successful careers, ensuring a smoother transition and a brighter future for those who have served our nation.
